THUNDER BAY, ON, October 28, 2011-Wasaya Group Inc, parent company of Wasaya Airways is pleased to announce that Fort Severn First Nation has become the 11th Shareholder First Nation by becoming a full partner in Wasaya Airways LP. Fort Severn will be a very welcome addition to the current ownership communities: Bearskin Lake First Nation, Kasabonika Lake First Nation, Kingfisher Lake First Nation, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, Muskrat Dam First Nation, Nibinamik First Nation, Pikangikum First Nation, Wapekeka First Nation, Wunnumin Lake First Nation and Keewaywin First Nation.
The purpose of Wasaya Airways is to provide First Nation owners and other isolated communities with safe, reliable and cost-effective air transportation services and to be leaders in the development of meaningful programs for the education and the employment of First Nations people in commercial aviation. Wasaya strives for success and growth by balancing the needs of customers, shareholders and employees, while supporting its communities and protecting the great lands. As Northern Ontario s only regionally owned airline, Wasaya Airways hopes to continue to enrich First Nation economic development throughout. In addition to becoming the 11th ownership community of Wasaya Airways, Fort Severn obtains observer status in the balance of the Wasaya Group of Companies and may exercise their participation option anytime over the next two years.
