JULY 13, 2011. Mr. Tom Kamenawatamin, President & CEO of Wasaya Group Inc., is pleased to announce that an agreement was signed with Lazanko Inc. on July 13, 2011 to buy the outstanding shares of Wasaya Petroleum Limited Partnership owned by their Manitoba partner.
Wasaya Petroleum Limited Partnership is a joint venture formed in September, 2000 between Wasaya Group Inc. and Lazanko Inc. with the option for Wasaya Group Inc. to purchase the remaining 49% interest. That option has been exercised and the owner First Nations of Wasaya Group Inc. will now wholly reap the benefits of the business generated by Wasaya Petroleum going forward.
Wasaya Petroleum Limited Partnership is a leading provider in North West Ontario of bulk gas, diesel, and case goods. The office in Pickle Lake handles all the day-to-day operations and a large tank storage facility is located there. Delivery to remote customers is made over the winter road or flown in via sister company Wasaya Airways.
Wasaya Group of Companies is 100% First Nations owned by 10 First Nations; Bearskin Lake First Nation; Kasabonika Lake First Nation; Keewaywin First Nation; Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug; Kingfisher Lake First Nation; Nibinamik First Nation; Wapekeka First Nation; Wunnumin Lake; Muskrat Dam First Nation and Pikangikum First Nation.
