WGI's 20th Anniversary Celebration held in Wunnumin Lake July 28, 2010
Original Wasaya Airways owner Frank Kelner arrives in his own helicopter!
This group of "pioneers" receiving recognition awards are the people who started to build their own airport in Wunnumin Lake.
They did this so they did not have to do all their travel by float planes, especially those medical patients and others passengers with special needs. Finally, after the government recognized the determination of these people and all their progress, they prioritized the completion of the airport. Frank Kelner was the first to use the new airstrip, and shortly after Wasaya was formed in partnership with Mr. Kelner and his partners.
One of the Original owners of what is now Wasaya Airways, Frank Kelner, arrived in Wunnumin Lake to celebrate Wasaya's 20th Anniversary with the communities.
Later again, Mr. Kelner and Wasaya would form a new company - this time a Helicopter operation involving 20 First Nation Communities.
